Museum Passes

The library’s museum pass program has been generously provided by
the Friends of the West Islip Public Library.

We currently offer West Islip cardholders (that are 18+ years old) free
family passes to the following museums:

Please read the rules & guidelines below and then click on the “Accept” link
at the bottom of the page to begin reserving your passes.
  • You should contact the museum directly for information concerning the rules & limitations of the pass, parking, days & hours of operation and directions.
  • You must bring your W.I. Library card with you when visiting a museum in addition to the pass.
  • You must cancel any reservations that you will not be using as soon as possible so that another patron may borrow the pass!
You may view your reservations and make changes online by visiting our Museum Pass page & by clicking on the [My Passes] link. If you fail to cancel your reservation and you do not pick up your pass during the time period that you reserved it, it will still count as one of your two uses per 60 days.
  • You may borrow no more than two passes in a 60 day period.
If you fail to cancel your reservation and you do not pick up your pass during the time that you reserved it, it will still count as one of your two uses per 60 days.
  • Limit of 1 pass to a museum per household.
The Library owns multiple passes to several museums.* Only one of the passes to these museums may be borrowed at a time per household. The Library reserves the right to cancel reservations that are made to a second family member in the same household for the same days.
*This rule applies to the Long Island Children’s Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Old Westbury Gardens & the Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium.
  • Pass reservations are not transferable.
  • Please print out the confirmation page that appears after making your reservation & bring it with you to the Library when you come in to pick up your pass.
  • The day that you reserve the pass for is the day that you may pick it up. You cannot pick up the pass before the date that you reserved it for!
  • All passes may be borrowed for three days in total (excluding Sundays).
Ex: If a pass is checked out on Monday it must be returned on Wednesday. If it is checked out on Friday it must be returned on Monday.
  • Passes cannot be renewed or extended for any reason.
  • There will be a $20 fee for each day that the pass is late.
  • If the pass is lost the borrower is responsible for the replacement cost of the pass.
  • The library is not responsible if a pass is returned late, so please call before coming to pick up your reserve to make sure that it is available for you.
  • Free admission passes are for the use of West Islip residents only and may not be sold.
  • Passes can be picked up in the Children’s Department during normal Library hours on the first day of your reservation.
  • Passes must be returned in person at the Circulation Desk during normal Library hours. Under no circumstances should a pass be left in the book-drop bin or left on the counter.
