A FREE full-day event open to everyone, but teens get preferred seating. Meet dynamic authors of young adult literature. Break out sessions with the following authors: Michael D. Beil, Sarah Beth Durst, Madeleine George, Christopher Grant, Lisa Greenwald, Adele Griffin, Paul Griffin, Jenny Han, Marthe Jocelyn, Janet Lee, Robert Lipsyte, David Nayeri, George O’Connor, Lauren Oliver, Dave Roman, and Mark Shulman. Cool giveaways, books for sale & autographing will be available. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from this event. NO ticket required. Book Sale Volunteers
Teen volunteers are needed to help out with the Friends of the West Islip Public Library’s Book Sale. We will have a variety of hours available between Tuesday, March 27 and Saturday, March 31. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mrs. Fowler at the Adult Reference Desk to sign up. Community service credit will be rewarded. Open to grades 7-12.

The Battle of the Books is a countywide competition of young adults representing participating Suffolk County public libraries. The competition took place on Saturday, August 13th at Stony Brook University. Teams answered trivia questions based on eight different books and scored points for their team with each correct answer. West Islip’s Team name was Angry Birds MMARCH to Battle! The members of this year’s team were Meghan Bevan, Caitlin Yilmaz, Hannah Kim, Rachel Hunter, Molly McLaughlin, and Anna Hightower. Special thanks to assistant coaches Emily Anne O’Neill and Gabby Amico.
The Library offers patrons free family passes to several area museums, including the Intrepid, the L.I. Museum, the Vanderbilt & more.
