Celebrating reading by connecting teens and authors

Please note event takes place at St. Joseph’s College Campus in Patchogue.
A FREE full-day event open to everyone, but teens get preferred seating. Meet dynamic authors of young adult literature! Cool giveaways, books for sale & autographing will be available.  Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from this event. See www.authorsunlimited.org for further details.

Enrichment Program: JumpBunch Sports and Fitness

With different sports and fitness activities teens with special needs will work their muscles, build coordination and most importantly — be continually challenged.

Then consider being part of this summer’s Battle
of the Books
The Battle of the Books
is a countywide competition of young adults representing participating Suffolk County public libraries.  The competition will take place on Saturday, August 10th at Stony Brook University. Teams will answer trivia questions based on eight different books and score points for their team with each correct answer.  If you are interested in taking part, you must entering grades 6-9, able to attend weekly meetings and be ready for a summer of fun! For further details attend the Battle of the Books Kick-Off Meeting* Monday, June 3 ~ 4:00 PM
*Attendance at the Kick-Off Meeting is NOT required.  You may pick up copies of this year’s titles at the Adult Reference Desk beginning Monday, June 3rd.

Volunteer Planting

Teens are encouraged to volunteer and join us to plant flowers on the library grounds.  A fun time with your friends and earn community service credit!  Sign up at the Adult Reference Desk.

Teen Volunteers Needed: Project Connect
Looking for a unique volunteer experience this summer? The Library is looking for teen volunteers entering grades 9-12 to participate in a new program called PROJECT CONNECT.  Teens who are selected for the program will be working with other young people with special needs.  We will meet once a week for an hour. During this time, all participants will experience a variety of social activities (video gaming, art, cooking, etc.). If you are interested in learning more about this program please see teen librarian, Mrs. Fowler, at the Library.  Community service will be given. Applications are available at the Adult Reference desk and must be handed in by Friday, June 21, 2013.

 

Regents Review Classes…

The purpose of these classes will be to help students review for and study for the NYS Regents Exams.  Course topics will be covered through review sheets and practice questions.  Students will receive review materials and handouts. All courses are taught by NYS certified teachers.
